Long time no post. Laziness and busy-ness is a deadly combination, at least for blogs.
…
I just finished my art project, which makes up most of my final score for the practical part of my art major. I did photography/photomanipulation using some local landscapes, then had the files printed up on 60×60cm posterboards. They came out pretty well (if I do say so myself and all that). They’d better. Took. Ages. To. Do.
I was originally painting landscapes on spheres, which was fun and pretty but didn’t have much of a point. When I was looking for 360 panoramas on Wikimedia Commons I stumbled across a picture that was made using the polar coordinates filter and immediately wanted to do something like that myself. So I changed my plans and decided to do my project about different sides of Jerusalem instead. (I’ll have to get around to posting an English translation of the spiel.)
Here are two out of the set of five (click through to view full on the flickr pages. I promise it’s worth it):
For the history fans out there, I also have some photos from my family’s trip to Caesarea last week up in my flickr stream, along with the rest of the pictures in the set. There are amazing Roman-Herodian and Crusader ruins there. Some of the places there are mentioned in Josephus and the New Testament (“…and those seats in the stadium are where King Agrippa I was poisoned in 44 AD before dying in that palace, and over thataway is where the massacre in 66 provoked the Jewish Revolt, and over this way is the amphitheater…”).
That place just blew my mind. Great swimming there too; Herod knew what he was doing when he picked that spot.

It’s really beautiful. Is there any chance of me getting a print out of them?
You should see what some of the people in my class did. Klil built a life sized horse out of paper mache.

Yes, prints are available. You can work it out with a printing place and I’ll send you the file to send them, or I can do it for you.
I wonder if people would buy prints if I put them up on DeviantArt…
